TWIN offers versatile solutions to enhance traffic capacity, whether combined with other elevator systems in a new building or installed in an existing elevator shaft during building modernization.
TWIN in new build and modernization projects
A future-ready choice for new installations
Two independent cabins in one shaft reduce the building core. This reduces labor and material costs for developers and contractors. Reducing the core size frees up rentable floor space, increasing rental income for the owner. TWIN, with its spacious double main entrance lobby, ensures comfortable lobby space for all passengers at all times, even with the reduced elevator lobby and shaft footprint.
- Significantly increase handling capacity with fewer elevator shafts compared to conventional elevators.
- Save money by reducing the construction needed to build more elevator shafts.
- Increase your leasable space
Configuration example: 8 Single Deck (SD) with 8 cabins can be replaced by 4 TWIN + 1 HELIX. The result is an increased handling capacity with better entry and exit capacity while reducing elevator shafts footprint.

A flexible approach to modernization projects
Maximize the performance of your building. Transport more passengers with two elevator cabins operating in a single shaft. TWIN increases handling capacity and enhances passenger comfort, making it ideal for buildings where existing elevators no longer meet growing demand. By reducing the number of elevator shafts required, valuable floor space is freed up and can be repurposed for essential building services. Whether you need additional space for advanced data infrastructure, for the installation of modern air-conditioning systems or for additional VIP or fire fighting lifts, this solution helps you unlock the full potential of your building while future-proofing its vertical transportation capabilities.
Three ways to modernize
Increase capacity with the same number of shafts
Challenge: Congestion, waiting and travel times have increased due to a population increase or change of building use, but additional shafts are not possible.
Solution: TWIN can solve the problem without building new shafts by adding more independent cabins to the existing configuration. Entry and exit capacity is doubled
thanks to a double lobby.
Configuration example: 8 Single Deck (SD) with 8 cabins can be replaced by 7 TWIN + 1 HELIX. The result is 15 cabins with the same footprint.

Increase capacity with one shaft repurposed
Challenge: Congestion, waiting and travel times have increased due to a population increase or change of building use. Additional shafts are not possible and the customer needs additional space for technical items such as HVAC, data cables or even additional VIP or fire fighting elevators.
Solution: TWIN can solve the problem without building new shafts by adding more independent cabins to the existing configuration and leaving one shaft free. The empty shaft that remains can be repurposed for HVAC, data cables, etc. Entry and exit capacity is doubled thanks to a double lobby.
Configuration example: 8 Single Deck with 8 cabins can be replaced by 6 TWIN + 1 HELIX + 1 empty shaft. The result is 13 cabins + 1 shaft which can be repurposed for cables or other building equipment.
Increase capacity by extending the building height
Challenge: Congestion, waiting and travel times have increased due to a population increase or change of building use. The building is to be extended with additional levels and additional shafts are not possible.
Solution: TWIN can solve the problem without building new shafts by adding more independent cabins to the existing configuration. Entry and exit capacity is doubled
thanks to a double lobby.
