Traffic lights indicate the travel direction to approaching passengers. They are essential for escalators and moving walks with intermittent operation. Various types are available: The most common traffic lights feature a green arrow for entry and a red “no entry”-symbol for the exit. They can be installed on columns at the landings ❶, or embedded in the inner decking ❷ or outer decking ❸. For greater visibility, LED skirt and comb plate lighting ❹ can be specified with an integrated traffic light function to elegantly steer traffic flow. Floor plate traffic lights ❺ and illuminated glass newels ❻ are visible well before passengers board the escalator.
